Every September we set aside time to focus on our own business site. It’s good to have regularly scheduled time to take a fresh look at the design and writing on each of the sections of the site. This year we did a complete redesign, simplified some of the page structure, and we are adding a business blog for the first time.
Visitors read websites more like a billboard than a novel. The biggest challenge for us is effectively describe what we do on a quick first impression. What is this company? What do they do? What can they do for us? What are they like? We’re using a few single sentence summaries below our logo to hopefully answer those questions. A web developer’s client portfolio is also very important. We’ve dedicated space in the top-third of the front page to feature some of our favorite long-term clients.
We are also excited about this new weblog space. We plan on using it not only for announcements, but also to post more in-depth descriptions of our clients and the work that we’re doing for them.
